Between the Shadows

陰翳之間

In an old, traditional Chinese medicine clinic, a doctor senses the presence of a malevolent spirit within a patient. During the process of expelling the spirit, he must also confront the inner demons rooted deeply within his own heart, intertwined with the ancient philosophies of balance and healing.

Director Statement

Shadows exist in the space between light and darkness—they are softer than light, yet more alluring than darkness. I believe that within every human heart lies a shadowy corner, a place where our darker sides are buried. We unconsciously deny their existence, yet they fester and intertwine within corrupted minds. My film delves into the complexity of the human psyche, where every character carries a form of “sickness”—not necessarily physical but often psychological. Guilt born from wrongdoing and longing born from loss ferment into wounds, leaving lasting scars of pain. Yet, it is through these “illnesses” that the meaning of love becomes magnified, lending it a deeper, more poignant resonance.
