Fearless Sisters
The women’s basketball team of Qufu Normal University may be made up of ordinary undergraduates rather than sports scholars, but under the guidance of Coach Wang Zhe — affectionately known as “Mama Zhe” — they carve out their own legend.
The film moves between two intertwined stories. On the battlefront, the team faces fierce rivals in the “Group of Death,” adopting Mama Zhe’s rallying cry — “Grind on defence! Fight for rebounds!” — as their creed. Once bewildered by stronger opponents, they grow into players who shout with pride, “Qufu Normal! Fight to the end!”, embodying a spirit of dignity even in defeat.
Off the court, the camera lingers on everyday warmth: teammates gathered around a table making dumplings, laughter mixing with the aroma of pork filling; a student refreshing her postgraduate results with trembling hands, the suspense interwoven with the roar of courtside cheers. Their motto — “Devote your heart to study, devote your heart to the ball” — resonates through both academics and athletics.
Threading through it all is Mama Zhe’s defining maxim: “Basketball teaches you to conquer anything.” Over four years of sweat, tears, and sisterhood, this is a story of resilience, camaraderie, and the joy of finding strength together.
