Golden Gate Girls
金門銀光夢/金门银光梦
The director, Ng Kam Ha, was a San Francisco Chinese who directed nine Cantonese films in Hong Kong and the United States in the 1930s and 1940s. She was the first overseas Chinese woman director to direct a Hong Kong film, and a woman who was independent and ahead of her time. In the film, as well as collecting information and visiting friends and relatives, the film takes a look at two of her contemporaries who also had unfulfilled ambitions: Chinese Hollywood actress Huang Liu-shang and Dorothy Arzner, the only female Hollywood director at the time.
