Sun Zhenlun, a senior dance major, struggles between financial pressure at home and his dream of dancing, as he enters a competition of special significance as a substitute, uncertain of how it will end.

Director Statement

The creative impulse behind this film grew out of an exploration of dance cinema as an emerging form of expression. Drawing on my background in choreography and dance composition, I aim to break through the boundaries of a single art form by deeply integrating the physical language unique to dance with the audiovisual narrative language of film. Through their mutual reinforcement, the film seeks to tell a complete story. While grounding the narrative in everyday life and reality, preserving an authentic sense of lived experience and emotional resonance, I also hope to develop a more personal, stylized, and artistic approach in the film’s overall style, using it as a way to articulate my own creative reflections and individual voice.
