ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Li Yue was born in China and graduated from the University of the Arts London. He is currently based in Shanghai.

“I Have No Legs, and I Must Run” won the Best Short Film at the 2022 BFI London Film Festival Official Competition, a Silver Award at the Cannes Golden Lion Young Directors Award (YDA), and Special Mention at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Hong Kong IFVA. It was also selected for various other film festivals, including FIRST Film Festival, Stockholm Film Festival, and NOWNESS Film Festival. It was featured as a Vimeo Staff Pick and Short of the Week.

He has collaborated with brands such as Nike, Louis Vuitton, Huawei, Vivo, Nowness, OnePlus, and Realme.

DIRECTOR STATEMENT

I Have No Legs, and I Must Run is a short film that aims to attach importance debate to “age crisis” and “life choices” encountered by young people. Under the background music of strong visual language and an ear-splitting bass soundtrack, this film will tell the story of the hero to the audience like peeling onions in a surreal manner.
