Cheung King-wai’s award-winning documentary KJ: Music and Life (2009) follows Hong Kong piano prodigy KJ Wong across several formative years, exploring talent, education, family expectations and the difficult journey towards becoming oneself.

As part of Odyssey 2026 #Fashion, we revisit the film through a different lens: fashion not simply as clothing, but as the process through which an individual gradually forms, questions and expresses an identity.

Released in 2009, KJ: Music and Life also offers an intimate portrait of a young Hong Kong generation entering the 2010s — ambitious, questioning and searching for its own voice.
