DIRECTOR STATEMENT

In the heart of Paris, where history and modernity meet, Levitation rises as a luminous fusion of movement, artistry, and philosophy. Created in collaboration with the 2024 Paris Olympics and French athletes, this short film is more than a visual spectacle — it is an exploration of the human spirit’s boundless potential.

Mathieu Forget, the visionary behind Levitation, has long been known for images that seem to defy gravity. Yet behind the striking frames lies a deeper truth. As he reflects in the film: “Athletes, in a way, are artists. But artists must put in the same work as athletes to succeed.” This insight shapes the narrative, drawing a line between the relentless discipline of sport and the quiet mastery of art.

Filmed across iconic Olympic venues and the living streets of Paris, Levitation intertwines the precision of elite athletics with the freedom of creative expression. It captures a symphony of motion — athletes and dancers suspended in air, bodies poised between flight and stillness — embodying the fleeting yet eternal essence of peak performance. Each frame tells a story of perseverance, of limits transcended, of labour transformed into grace.
