Living Strings
斫心
Where the fist stirs the air, the qin answers with melody. Tai Chi unfolds in effortless grace — strength within softness — its yin-yang philosophy woven into every motion and pause, echoing the soul of the millennia-old guqin.
The lens follows the qin maker’s hands: splitting wood with the grounded force of Tai Chi; guiding the blade across grain like the turns of Push Hands; spreading lacquer in rhythms synced to breath; twisting strings into tension and release, a fist gathering and unfolding.
The qin takes form — yin and yang carved into wood. Strings tremble, music rises: firm as an axe stroke, tender as the flow of lacquer; solid as untouched timber, subtle as fading vibration.
This ancient craft, flowing through the maker’s fingers, mirrors the boxer’s art: a chord resonating with heaven and earth.
