A Vietnamese couple living near the Sino–Vietnamese border had long cherished Paris as a faraway dream. But poverty left them no choice but to seek help from the ruthless Brother Six. After borrowing his money, they set out across mountains and valleys toward the seaport, driven by hope. Yet, unknown to them, Brother Six and his henchmen were already on their trail — a pursuit that would lead to a breathless chase beneath the moonlit banana groves…

OUR TAKE

Praise the Pink Heaven uses dark humour to chart a couple’s absurd quest for Paris. As they cross border towns and flee through moonlit groves, the tension between dream and reality grows sharper. Blending cultural and political currents with a surreal edge, the film suggests that a “brave new world” might be closer than it seems.
