Exceeding all his expectations, Ming is chosen to represent his school at running. He treasures this last opportunity in his secondary school life and does his very best to prepare for it. However, on the eve of the competition, he decides to give the opportunity to his best friend. There is more to competition than just the end result. Pride, dignity, dreams and friendship are put to the best.

Chan Ying-wai graduated from the School of Film & Television, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, in 2004, having specialised in Directing.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Chan Ying Wai studied film-making and fine arts for his bachelor and master’s degree in Hong Kong. His beloved documentary works include Humming In The Journey (2003), which traces the inner world of a poet, Wordic, and Landscape on the Other Side: Hong Kong Cinematography Bill Wong (2010), dedicated to a master cinematographer in Hong Kong.

His short film Someone’s Running (2008) received the Best Film Award (Open Category) and the Big Wave Award in Fresh Wave Short Film Competition.

His recent works include Blackbirds (2020) and Song of Four Seasons (2022), both were TV Drama commissioned by RTHK Below The Lion Rock programme. Song of Four Seasons was nominated Best TV Movie in International Competition in the Seoul International Drama Awards 2023.

In 2023, a 10-episode TV Drama Series Through A Lens Darkly (2023) was commissioned by ViuTV, in which he produced, directed and co-wrote.

He works as a senior lecturer at School of Film & Television, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
