Focusing on Liu Zi Opera, an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in Shandong, the film documents the growth of four young opera students preparing for a major competition. While adhering to traditional vocal and physical roots, the youths incorporate contemporary aesthetics and youthful styling, breaking the fixed patterns of ancient opera. As a character documentary, it captures the sweat behind the scenes and presents the contemporary translation of traditional art, empowering local ICH with the dynamic vitality to express itself to the world.
